Daniel Boyle, 25, and Jason Arnold, 45, were rowing whilst walking down a Wolverhampton residential street, on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

A resident heard from his home arguing for 10 minutes outside his house and then heard something hitting his house.

When the homeowner went outside and challenged them for throwing objects at his house he was viciously attacked leaving him with permanent injuries.

Boyle, of Edgehill Road, Wolverhampton, punched him so hard he fell back over a brick fence onto the floor on to his back. Then Arnold, of Gough Street, Bilston, joined in the attack.

Boyle told him: "I know who your nephews are and I will stab them to death." Confused the victim said: "I do not have any nephews that you know."

Prosecuting, Dean Easthope said: "Boyle then took a swing and him which made him fall to the floor.

"They both then stamped on him at least seven times and kicked him in the head several times."

The victim was saved from a further injuries by neighbours who intervened, only for Arnold and Boyle to threaten them.

Mr Easthope added: "A witness heard Arnold shout 'finish him off' to which Boyle walked over and punched the victim in the face which made a loud clap sound."

Both were arrested soon afterwards and resisted arrest forcing officers to use pepper spray on Boyle to subdue him.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he was treated for three nights, where he underwent surgery for fractures in his body, due to nerve damage he might not feel his face properly again. He now has an overbite and cannot close his mouth properly and dribbles uncontrollably and cannot eat properly.

In a victim personal statement, he said: "I do not want to leave my house anymore. My partner is also scared to leave the house on her own. This has almost caused us to split up. "We have looked into leaving the area but do not think we should be forced to because of Boyle and Arnold."

Boyle has ten convictions for 14 offences, including burglary, criminal damage, robbery and battery. He currently on remand ahead of a June trial concerning two rapes.

Arnold has 14 convictions for 20 offences, including criminal damage, harassment, battery and drugs.

The pair denied the crime throughout the case but pleaded guilty to section 20 grievous bodily harm with intent on the first day of their trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court last year

In mitigation, the court heard Boyle had a traumatic childhood and Arnold was now suffering with a disability.

Justice Michael Chambers KC sentenced the pair to 40 months imprisonment each at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday).

He said: "Your victim was punched, kicked and stamped on repeatedly. It does not matter who did what this was a joint assault.

"Your victim received serious injuries. You both either gave no comment or denied involvement. You both deserve immediate custodial sentences."
