The block on Firs Lane was closed off by fire crews on Sunday after residents reported feeling unwell from breathing in fumes, with West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service also called to the scene around 6.30pm.

Nine people were treated at the scene, then taken to hospital for further treatment after showing signs of potential carbon monoxide poisoning, with West Midlands Police confirming that the nine people had since been released from hospital.

However, the scene days later still showed what had taken place on Sunday (March 16), with a number of barriers still present on the right-hand staircase leading up to the five homes, while a faint smell of gas could still be felt in the air.

One resident could be seen checking a house on the block, but no one else was visible at the scene, with the resident, who asked not to be named, saying that all the residents on that block had not been allowed to come back to the building yet.
