Water pipe bursts near Black Country homes - buses diverted

Buses and motorists are being diverted from a Willenhall street after a water pipe sprung a leak overnight.

Engineers from Severn Trent Water are currently carrying out repairs following reports of a leak in Birchtree Hollow off Stroud Avenue, Short Heath in Willenhall, resulting in the National Express West Midlands number 41 bus being diverted.

Traffic is being diverted via Stroud Avenue and Sandbeds Road to Lane Head.

The utility firm website states: "We're currently working to fix a water leak at Birchtree Hollow, WV12. Our repair work will start by March 29. Our team will be working hard to make sure it's fixed as soon as possible."

The company text residents to apologise for the problem stating: "We are really sorry if you are experiencing lower than normal water pressure and/or discolouration. We are investigating this and will work hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible. We will keep you updated>" 

Meanwhile National Express West Midlands posted on social media platform X: "Due to Emergency roadworks on Birchtree Hollow, #Willenhall 41 will be diverting both directions via: Stroud Avenue and Sandbeds Road. We apologise for any disruption to your journey."
