Man, 64, arrested after women racially abused in Perry Barr

A 64-year-old man has been arrested after two women reported being racially abused in Perry Barr.

The arrest comes after two women were approached by two men who had a dog and were sworn at and racially abused on Walsall Road, Perry Barr, at around 8.25pm on Saturday. 

Both men quickly left the scene following the incident.

While the women were shaken by the incident, neither were physically harmed. 

West Midlands Police officers are now carrying out CCTV enquiries and are speaking to victims. 

A 64-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order on Monday night, with the man remaining in custody on Tuesday. 

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "The women were approached by two men who had a dog.  They were sworn at and racially abused before the men left the scene.

"The women were shaken, but not physically harmed."

Police are continuing to investigate the incident, with anyone with information asked to contact them directly via their 101 number, or alternatively via the Live Chat service on their website, quoting log number 4609 of 15 March.
