These characteristics make up the 'Perton Values', which are instilled in youngsters at Perton Primary Academy.

Headteacher Vicky Jackson said this is part of what makes the Sandown Drive school a special place to be.

Mrs Jackson told the Express & Star: "The children make it unique because they all follow the 'Perton Values' and the staff are really dedicated - they go above and beyond for the activities they give to the children and they are approachable for both the parents and children."

One way pupils are able to apply the school's values is when they are out and about in the community, which they do so during regular visits to a local dementia café and assisted living home where they sing to residents.

Alongside contributing to the wider community, the wellbeing of pupils is a key focus at Perton Primary Academy.

The school has a dedicated wellbeing room where youngsters can go to take part in activities and build on their self-esteem.
