It happened at about 11.40pm yesterday (Sunday) when two men went inside a house near Newport Road, Eccleshall, and took a grey Volkswagen.

Officers have been trawling the area looking for the car and carrying out enquiries and spotted it driving on a dual carriageway in convoy with another car.

The VW drove off but the other car was pursued. Two people ditched it on the roadside and ran off.

Police dog Maddie was sent in and she led officers to an outbuilding on Sefton Road in Normacott, Stoke-on-Trent. Two men were found hiding inside.

The car they had followed was checked and ended up coming back as stolen.

A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, both from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary, vehicle theft and drug driving. They are being questioned in custody.
