Police continue to investigate suspected XL Bully dog attack in West Bromwich

Police are continuing to investigate after a man was seriously injured in a dog attack in West Bromwich.

They were called to reports of a dog - believed to be an XL Bully - who attacked the man at an address on Ripon Drive, West Bromwich, at around 4.40pm on Friday.

They found the man with serious injuries after being attacked in a garden at the back of the property.  He was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene and taken to hospital.

The dog was Tasered by specialist officers but died at the scene - on inspection it was believed to be an XL Bully breed.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "There was no wider threat to the community but we realise incidents of this nature are concerning to the community so will extra officers were in the area on Friday night to offer reassurance.

" We continue to have a police presence in the area as we seek to establish exactly what happened. "
