Award-winning poet, writer and musician Brendan Hawthorne spoke to the Express & Star about his new album called 'So it Goes...', which he made with fellow creative, Kerry Halford.

The album was started pre-pandemic and, when lockdown was brought in, the pair could not progress with it - they could not make music in person, nor could they efficiently practice over a video call because of the latency.

When they were finally able to see each other, they completed their album, which is made up of country and folk-style songs, and are now officially launching it.

A free, live performance of So it Goes... will take place at Wednesbury Library on Saturday starting at 11.30am. The pair will also be hosting a chat and Q&A with guests.

Brendan explained their newest musical venture.

"Me and Kerry have spent the last few years putting together a new collection of our songs," he said. "It's a follow on cd from an album we did a while back called Because.

"It was pretty much a premonition in some ways because we started to record the CD just before Covid then obviously everything closed down.

"We couldn't get to see each other and couldn't rehearse properly over the internet. We continued to share songs and so forth and we managed to get back these last few months and started putting together all the singles and songs."

Both Kerry and Brendan do vocals, with Kerry also specialising in keyboard and Brendon in guitar.

"We bring songs to the table and see what works for us and works with the sound," Brendan added.
