The former Lloyds Bank branch in Darlaston, which closed two years ago, is appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction on March 27 with a guide of more than £250,000.
The branch on King Street is still configured as a bank, complete with a walk-in safe, but the auctioneers said it could be suitable for a range of different uses, subject to planning permission.
The property occupies a prominent position fronting the pedestrianised King Street, immediately adjacent to the Asda Superstore, in the heart of Darlaston town centre.
Ian Tudor, commercial auction director at Bond Wolfe, said it was a vacant freehold town centre property with car parking and was closed in December 2022 as part of a Lloyds Bank branch closure programme.
He said: “This is a detached two storey former bank premises, currently configured to provide a former banking hall, five partitioned offices, a safe and ancillary stores on the ground floor.
“On the first floor there is a range of offices, meeting rooms, male and female WCs and further ancillary stores.
“There is an external fire escape to the rear of the property, which extends to approximately 2,733 sq ft and, outside, there is parking for five cars.
“There is a mix of retail properties nearby and this former bank is considered suitable for a variety of alternative uses, including retail, a bar/restaurant, residential, offices, medical or a meeting or community space, subject to obtaining any appropriate planning permission.”
The former Lloyds Bank branch will be among 176 lots appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction, which is due to start at 8.30am on March 27.
The auction will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
