'I just heard this loud bang': Three hurt in West Bromwich crash including man left with serious injuries

Three people were hurt in a crash in West Bromwich, including a man who was left with 'serious injuries'.

A number of bus services were diverted following a three-car collision on West Bromwich High Street, between St Michael and Lodge Road, at around 2.15pm today.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of West Bromwich High Street between St Michael and Lodge Road.

Two ambulances from West Midlands Ambulance Service and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene, where on arrival they discovered three patients, including one man who was left with serious injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson: "We were called to reports of a three-car RTC on High Street in West Bromwich at 2.14pm. We sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene. On arrival, crews found three patients. 

"The first, a man, was treated for serious but not thought to be life-threatening injuries and conveyed under emergency driving conditions to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. 

"A second man was assessed for minor injuries and conveyed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. 

"A woman was also assessed for minor injuries before being discharged at the scene."

West Midlands Police cordoned off the road following the incident, before releasing the scene at around 4.14pm.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson: "We were called to reports three vehicles had been involved in a collision on West Bromwich High Street just before 2.15pm this afternoon.

"No one is believed to have been seriously injured."

The incident was reported by roads watchdog West Midlands Road, with the group saying that the crash is causing 'minor disruption'.

On X, the group said: "High Street between St Michael and Lodge Road, West Bromwich.

"Road Closed. Three car collisions."

A number of bus routes were diverted following the crash, with National Express West Midlands warning that the services 79, 4, 4m, 3, 44, 47 and 74 were diverted.

Residents who live near the road said that they heard 'a big bang' just before the crash, also saying that traffic in the area was horrendous.

Jamie Allbright, 18, a college student from the area, said: "I was in one of the shops and I heard this really big bang. When I looked outside there were these three cars. 

"I think some people were injured, but I don't know how bad, they were moving and stuff so I think they were alright."

Another resident of the area said that the traffic leading up to the road was 'terrible'.

Jaspreet Sing, 45, who lives in the town centre, said: "It's horrible isn't it? The traffic here has been terrible. 

"There are quite a few people trying to catch the bus, but obviously there are diversions. And people usually go down that road, so the traffic has been terrible."

The road reopened at around 4.14pm, with all three cars being removed.
