'A memory they will cherish for years to come' - Headteacher recounts royal visit to Walsall as pupils meet Prince William

Pupils at a Willenhall primary school made 'lasting memories' on Tuesday (March 11) after meeting Prince William during a royal visit to the town.

The Prince of Wales was in the Black Country this week visiting Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall

It comes as part of a campaign by the Football Association (FA), of which His Royal Highness is a patron, to recruit more people from black, Asian and mixed heritage backgrounds into refereeing roles.

Primary school pupils from the nearby Fibbersley Park Academy were among those waiting to greet the future King outside the football club's grounds, chanting his name and holding up the colourful signs they made that morning.

Fibbersley Park Academy's headteacher, Kathryn Sugars, spoke of the pupil's excitement as they prepared for the Prince's visit, saying energy was 'electric'. 

"The children were absolutely thrilled," said Mrs Sugars.
