Some of these images from the Express & Star archive pick out big events like VE Day, a royal visit, the visit of The Beatles or a big boxing bout at Molineux.

But others are of every day people simply getting on with their lives, with street scenes, crowds escaping on a bank holiday weekend or struggling through Queen Square in the snow.

Wolverhampton has a proud industrial and this collection reflects that, with a snapshot from Sunbeam among others.

And there are lost landmarks, including Penn's Battle of Britain pub, a long-gone air control tower at Dunstall Park and the famous Gaumont Cinema.

Take a delve through these images - and we would also love to hear your memories of years gone by.
