The school, set to welcome its first pupils in 2026, is being created on the site of the St John's Grange housing development on Baker Road.
Staffordshire-based Primitas Learning Partnership, which will run the school, previously asked for the public's help in naming the the school and has now revealed it will be called Greywood Primary Academy.

CEO of the Trust, Mark Maydew, said: "The general public showed a real interest in what the new school should be called and local pride shone through the consultation responses.
"As a result, we received many more suitable suggestions than we originally anticipated. We were left with a shortlist of four potential names which were all equally strong and we found it really difficult to choose between them."
Mr Maydew explained 'Greywood' has links to the historical origins and meaning of Lichfield’s name.
He added: "[It references] the ash and elm trees which dominated the landscape when the ancient settlement was forming and gaining its identity.

"Also, the name recognises the importance of our merger with Greywood Multi-Schools Trust in September 2023, which provided us with the passion, local knowledge and additional capacity required to open a new school in Lichfield successfully.
"Our new school will become a flagship within our Trust for ecological and environmental awareness and sustainability."
Greywood Primary Academy will have space for 210 school pupils and 26 youngsters at its nursery provision initially, though this is expected to increase in the future.
It is being built to accommodate increased demand for places from nearby housing developments including St John’s Grange and another on the nearby Cricket Lane.
Staffordshire County Council cabinet member for education, Jonathan Price said: “The naming of a brand new school is always an important occasion and it has been great to see local people get involved in this process.
"After all, schools are at the heart of their communities, and this name reflects the importance of that. I look forward to seeing the school grow into its new name in the coming months and years."
Though the school is due to open in September 2026, Primitas Learning Partnership said it will be looking to take ownership of the building before this date to start using it as a community hub for local families and businesses.
