Man, 21, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after 15-year-old boy stabbed

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the stabbing of a 15-year-old boy on Friday night.

West Midlands Police were called by paramedics to the scene of Alum Rock Road, near the junction with College Road, Birmingham, just before 8.45pm on Friday.

The boy was found to have injuries not believed to be life-threatening and remains in hospital today. 

It is believed the boy was attacked near Morris Park, which remains cordoned off this morning while the investigation continues. 

West Midlands Police's major crime unit arrested the 21-year-old suspect from a vehicle on Monk Road just before 4pm on Saturday, with the man remaining in custody today. 

The investigation into the attack continues, with West Midlands Police asking anyone with information to contact them via their 101 number, or on the Live Chat service on their website, quoting reference number 5354 of 7 March. 

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are continuing to urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has mobile phone, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to get in touch.

"We have been speaking to people in the community to listen to their concerns, and have had extra officers in the area to offer reassurance."
