Watch: Police probe into Wolverhampton shooting murder continues as crime busting group issues statement

A group working together to tackle issues of crime has said the recent 'shocking' fatal shooting in Wolverhampton is 'not reflective' of the city.

The Wolverhampton Safer Partnership group has spoken out following yesterday's incident. (Tuesday, March 4)

The incident saw a community shaken after a man in his 20s was shot dead in Eastfield Grove, Wolverhampton, at around 3.20pm on Tuesday afternoon, leaving residents of the street fearful of leaving their own homes. 

Now, the Wolverhampton Safer Partnership group - a range of partners committed to working together to tackle issues of crime and community safety - has encouraged those with information to get involved in the police investigation, also saying that their thoughts are with the victim's family and friends.

A spokesman for the Safer Wolverhampton Partnership said: "This shocking incident is one that is not reflective of our city, and our thoughts are with the victim's family and friends at this time.

"The Safer Wolverhampton Partnership is committed to tackling crime in all its forms, and to making our streets safer. Police officers are carrying out high visibility patrols in the area to reassure and support the local community." 

The footage, taken by the Express and Star, shows investigators hard at work to detail the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident, with police teams seen searching the floors for any evidence.

The partnership spokesperson added "We would encourage anyone with any information which may help them identify the perpetrator or perpetrators to contact police in confidence as soon as possible. If you saw anything, or have mobile phone, doorbell or dashcam footage, please contact police via 101 or Live Chat, quoting 3288.

"As a murder investigation is currently underway, we are unable to comment further at this time."
