Investigations into Wolverhampton murder continue after a man was shot dead

Police are continuing their investigation into a murder after a man was shot dead in Wolverhampton

The incident happened at Eastfield Grove just after 3.20pm on Tuesday afternoon when a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

An immediate murder investigation began and is ongoing, with Eastfield Road between Eastfield Grove and Stanton Road still cordoned off. 

The shooting happened near to Eastfield Primary School. Nobody was available from the school to speak but neighbours in the area spoke of their shock at the incident

A police spokesman said: "The investigation is at a very early stage but it is believed to be a targeted attack.

"We urge people to avoid the area as road closures remain in place. Officers are carrying out high visibility patrols in the area to reassure and support the local community."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to the Eastfield Grove at 3.19pm and sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic to the scene.

 “On arrival, crews found a man receiving bystander CPR.

“Medics immediately administered advanced trauma care but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.”
