Landywood Primary School Year six pupils Harry Fanning and Jude Stanley have been leading a fundraising campaign to purchase new goal posts for their school's football pitches, and are now calling on the local community to help them reach the finish line.
The boys, who both play for one of the school teams and Ace Academy on weekends, have already raised a substantial portion of their £1,040 target.
With just months remaining before they move on to secondary school in July, they said they are determined to leave a lasting legacy for younger pupils.
The boys explained in their fundraising appeal: "Football is a huge part of our school and we want to leave the younger children with a better set of equipment than we had during our time at school."
For Harry, the project holds particular significance.
After being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes two years ago, he found football provided a vital outlet.
He said: "When playing football, it allows me to forget about everything, as I'm just focused on enjoying the game and scoring goals."

The boys were handed two cheques from local community groups, the Great Wyrley Carnival Committee and one from the Great Wyrley Senior Citizen’s Centre, on Friday, adding £200 to their total.
Pauline Kelsey, from the Carnival Committee, said, “it’s wonderful to see young people making a difference to the community and the members of Great Wyrley Senior Citizens Centre and The Carnival Committee are delighted to support the boys with their fantastic cause”.
Landywood’s Football Coach and class teacher, Brodie Holland said, “We are very proud of Jude and Harry for taking on this challenge and we are overwhelmed by the support we have received from the local community.
"The new goal posts will make a positive impact on football at Landywood and Jude and Harry’s legacy will benefit children for many years to come.”
Jude and Harry have received support from a number of organisations and individuals including, Jennifer Ashe & Son Funeral Directors & Memorials, Self Help Slimmers' based at Harrisons Sports and Social Club, Foundations Childminding Services, Walsh Funerals and Memorials and Cloudy2Clear.
