An annual celebration of butchers is set to celebrate the artistry, dedication, and expertise of the craft and the people behind it.
Running from March 3 to March 9, National Butchers Week emphasises the value of purchasing high-quality, ethically sourced meats and supports the local businesses that provide them.
National Butchers Week was set up to draw attention to the traditional skills and values of local butchers and seeks to highlight the uniqueness, personal touch, and commitment to quality that local butchers bring to the table.
Hundreds of butchers across the Black Country and Staffordshire will be working hard to sell prime cuts and demonstrate the skills, tradition, and importance of local butchers.

Martin Thomas Butchers

The six generation family butchers has become a market leader and serial award winner for its pork pies, bacon and black pudding.
Amongst the awards and recognition include the gold medal from the Black Country Festival of Food in 2002 for its pork and pickle pie, the 2003 National Pie and Pasties gold medal for its small pork pie and reaching the finals of the Meat Management industry awards in 2020 for its pork and pancetta pie.
It also praised by customers for the friendly welcome from current owner Craig Thomas and his father Martin, as well as the variety of flavours from the food on offer.

The selection of meat is wide ranging, all sourced locally, while it also has its own homemade award-winning pies and sausages and own dry cured bacon.

Brothers Adnaan and Manny run Malik Butchers, a butchers, deli and street food operation producing halal takes on British classics.
Inspired by the 'British classics they saw on TV' growing up, but couldn't eat as they weren't halal, the brothers have chosen to specialise in cured meat alternatives such as beef bacon, halal wagyu pastrami and lamb ham.
