There was music playing, drink flowing, a pork roast cooking and a feeling of celebration in the air as Kipsies Bar re-opened its doors on Friday (February 28) for the first time since being refurbished and renamed from the Dog and Doublet.

The bar on North Street was busy throughout the evening with people coming in to have a drink and a dance, as well as take part in a raffle for Promise Dreams, with prizes including the privilege of having a pint pulled for one lucky winner by Wolves legend Steve Bull.

It was also a chance to celebrate the past, with the new name paying tribute to Kipps Wine Bar, which had been on the same site 20 years ago, and which a lot of people attending remembered fondly as a great place for a night out.

The atmosphere on opening night was a fun and relaxed one, with members of staff dancing behind the bar to the selection of 1980s hits playing from Dodgers Disco and customers enjoying one of the many drinks available at the bar.

Owners Dave Holloway and Debbie Lloyd looked relaxed and happy as they mingled with those in attendance and said it was a relief to get the place opened and spoke about what was happening on the night.

Debbie said: "I'm just relieved as it's been a very long few weeks with a lot of stress trying to get everything ready.
