After a three-week trial the jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court found Gurwinder Singh, 36 and of Pimpernel Drive, Tamebridge, guilty of attempted murder, assault by beating, threats to kill, stalking, controlling and coercive behaviour and rape.

Singh's victim, who cannot be named, was the subject of controlling, abusive and violent behaviour for years and the attempted murder last May was the culmination of sustained harassment.

At the time of the attack Singh had already breached a restraining order and had continued to stalk the woman.
