Michael Taylor, 22, of Autumn Drive, Lower Gornal, stabbed his victim with such force his hunting knife broke off at the hilt, leaving it lodged in his thigh.

Taylor had been with friends in a Dudley pub on April 11 last year when he was punched in the face. After a short while Taylor unsheathed his hunting knife and stabbed his attacker five times, leaving him fighting for his life after losing a massive amount of blood.

After quickly being identified on CCTV Taylor then tried to evade the police until he was arrested two weeks after an appeal to the public for his whereabouts.

Taylor pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court to wounding with intent and possessing a knife in a public place and was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday (Friday, February 28).
