Bus diversions and traffic distruption as West Bromwich road closes for two months

A West Bromwich road will be closed in one direction for two months, causing travel disruption for many.

National Express West Midlands have warned of travel distruptions for road users in Sandwell as Harvills Hawthorn and New Street, West Bromwich, closes in one direction for road works. 

From Tuesday, February 4, until Monday, May 5, the two key roads will be closed in one direction between Hill Top and Danks Way for National Grid works.

The National Express West Midlands service 44 will be diverted during the works, with buses heading towards Harvills Hawthorn now follow New Swan Lane, Black Country New Road, George Henry Road, Bagnal Street, Harvills Hawthorn, and Wedgewood Avenue to rejoin the normal line of route to Marmion Way. 

Heading towards West Bromwich, buses will now follow Dial Lane, Richmond Street, Black Country New Road, New Swan Lane, and old Meeting Street to rejoin the normal line of route.

A National Express West Midlands spokesperson said: "From Tuesday 4th February until Monday 5th May, Harvills Hawthorn and New Street will be closed in one direction between Hill Top and Danks Way for National Grid works. 

"During this time, service 44 will be diverted."
