M6 crash: West Midlands motorway travellers warned to find alternate routes as multi-car pile up on M6 causes long delays

Drivers heading south on the M6 have been warned to find alternative routes after a multi-car crash left all three lanes of the motorway blocked.

The collision happened at around 9.29am between junctions 3 and 2 of the motorway on the southbound carriageway and left all three lanes blocked.

Ambulances from West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene and treated two men for potentially serious injuries, while West Midlands Roads warned of delays and advised drivers to allow extra time for their journeys and to find alternative routes.

A spokesman for West Midlands Roads said: "The M6 southbound between junctions J3 and J2 Road traffic collision has all lanes blocked due to a road collision.

"There are currently delays of 50 minutes against expected traffic.

"Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes where possible."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “ We were called at 9.29am to reports of a multi-vehicle collision between junctions 3 and 2 of the M6 near Henley. 

"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found six cars and a mobile crane had been involved in a collision. 

"There were two male patients requiring assistance. 

"Both men were treated by ambulance staff for potentially serious injuries and were conveyed to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire."
