West Midlands Police have released the image of Tyrone Moran after the 19-year-old was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison for causing death by dangerous driving at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
The 27-year-old had been crossing the dual carriageway at just after 8pm when she was hit by Moran's Vauxhall Corsa. She suffered serious injuries and despite the best efforts of emergency crews, nothing could be done to save her.
The Corsa sustained extensive damage and was abandoned a short distance away, but Moran later handed himself in a police station later in the evening.
The serious collision investigators from West Midlands Police established the car would have been going at more than double the 30mph speed limit at the time of the collision.
Moran admitted causing death by dangerous driving at Wolverhampton Crown Court and was sentenced to six years and nine months in a young offender's institution on Friday.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: "A young woman tragically lost her life at the hands of a speeding driver.
"Our investigations showed Moran was travelling at over double the speed limit, and then rather than stop and help he drove off.
"Such recklessness behind the wheel can have devastating consequences and our thoughts remain with Salma's loved ones."
