National Express West Midlands put out a message to warn that the road works were taking place on Cape Hill, which is near a junction with four separate turnoff points.

The works, which started on Wednesday and are being done by South Staffs Water, are expected to last until 11.59pm on Tuesday and will see temporary traffic lights and lane closures, as well as delays to the 80, 82, 87 and 89 bus services.

A spokesman for National Express West Midlands said: "There are roadworks with temporary traffic lights and lane closures on Cape Hill in Smethwick.

"Due to congestion on all approaches, there are delays to bus services 80, 82, 87 and 89.

"Please allow more time to travel and we apologise for this disruption caused by issues outside our control."
