Jonathan Ward, who turned 53 this week, has been sentenced to five years in prison having been convicted of 10 counts of indecent assault against a girl under the age of 14, all committed in Great Barr between 1988 and 1991.

Ward, most recently of Keswick in Cumbria but previously of Great Barr, attended Wolverhampton Crown Court to be sentenced.

On each of the 10 counts he was sentenced to jail, with each sentence to run concurrently and the longest being five years, with an extended licence period of one year.

The court also imposed an indefinite restraining order, barring Ward from contacting his victim. He was also added to the sex offenders register, also for an indefinite period.
