Debbie Lloyd and Dave Holloway have been working to renovate the former Dog and Doublet bar on North Street in Wolverhampton and turn it into a live music venue called Kipsies Bar.
The couple took over the ownership of the bar in October after a year of managing it and said the new name was a tribute to Kipps Bar, which operated at the same location and closed in 2006.
Kipsies is set to officially reopen on Friday with a full evening of music and appearances from Wolves legends such as Steve Bull, Mel Eves and Robbie Dennison.
Debbie Lloyd and Dave Holloway said they had been made aware of their bar's previous life when speaking to customers and DJs who had played there in the past.
Dave Holloway said: "When we took over the full running of the Dog and Doublet, we found that a lot of people were coming to us and telling us that we had Kipps' place, so we looked it up and found that it was the place everyone went to in the past.

"We thought about doing a rebrand and we were talking about a Kipps' reunion, getting in people who used to DJ here, and everyone was telling us what a great idea that was, so we decided to do the full rebrand and take that name."
