Man arrested after shop worker threatened on West Bromwich High Street

A man has been arrested after a shop worker was threatened on West Bromwich High Street and items stolen from a shop.

Officers on patrol in Wednesbury arrested a 40-year-old man on Monday on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident, which happened on February 20.

The force confirmed that the man had remained in custody for questioning.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has been arrested after a shop worker was threatened in High Street, West Bromwich, and items stolen, on February 20.

"Yesterday, while officers were on patrol in Wednesbury, a man aged 40 was arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident.

"He remains in custody for questioning.

"Retail workers should be able to undertake their job without fear and we are committed to tackling offenders and supporting retailers in reducing staff assaults and threatening behaviour.
