Firefighters tackle a house blaze near Lichfield Cathedral
Structural engineers have been called to assess a fire damaged house near Lichfield Cathedral.

Around 15 firefighters went to the three-storey terrace off The Close after reports of a fire on the ground floor shortly before 6.15am on Tuesday. The incident happened in Vicars Close near Lichfield Cathedral School.

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service stated: "Three appliances were sent to the property and extinguished the fire. No-one was hurt and the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time.
"The electrical supply in the local area was affected for a short period whilst crews put out the fire. All those affected have now had their electrical supply restored.
"We are advising members of the public to avoid the area where possible whilst structural engineers assess the damage to the property."

The service posted on social media platform X: "Lichfield fire. Crews from Aldridge, Tamworth and Mercia attended a house fire in the Lichfield area - the incident involved fire on ground & 1st floor of a 3 - storey terraced house. All persons are accounted for."
