Man charged after weapons and drugs seized in Wolverhampton

A man has been charged with drug and weapons offences after being arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Leon Carter was arrested at around 2am on Saturday (February 22) at Bentley Bridge in Wolverhampton. It came after officers investigated a car that was parked up with its engine running.

The force said that the officers had searched the car and found quantities of what was suspected to be cocaine and cannabis, while a further check of a house in the Parkfields area of Wolverhampton uncovered a taser, machete and knuckleduster.

The 28-year-old, of Greenock Crescent in Wolverhampton, was charged with possession of a firearm, possessing class A and class B drugs with intent to supply, and possessing two offensive weapons and was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court otoday (Monday, February 24).

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A 28-year-old man has been charged with drug and weapons offences after officers arrested a man from a car in the early hours at Bentley Bridge in Wolverhampton.

"Leon Carter has been charged with possession of a firearm, possessing class A and class B drugs with intent to supply, and possessing two offensive weapons.

"It comes after officers detained a man after a car was seen parked up with its engine running at just before 2am on Saturday, February 22.

"On searching the vehicle quantities of suspected cocaine and cannabis were recovered.

"A further search, at a property in the Parkfields area, saw a Taser, machete and a knuckleduster being seized.

"Carter has been held in police custody and was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday."
