Mechanic firm, VolksMagic, has been operating for over three decades and is well known in the Black Country as a one-stop-shop for all things Volkswagen - being a custom workshop specialising in the famous car brand.

But its work is not specifically inside engines restoring much-loves motors, as since 2007 they have become a household name amongst production companies across the country who make shows about the world's most popular mode of transport

The chop shop's director - who also refers to himself as the firm's general dog's body - Lee Southerton, 54, has been dabbling in shows like Wheeler Dealers and Car SOS, as well as Salvage Hunters and Camper Van Crisis for years, and says seeing his team's work broadcasted to the world is 'the best'.

Last week Lee's Facebook page had a more popular day than usual when he posted a video arm-in-arm with Wheeler Dealers very own, Mike Brewer.

Lee and his talented team have been filming for that show, as well as Car SOS, and the episodes are set be released in the coming months - with exact dates yet to be confirmed.

But away from the camera Lee makes sure to highlight the local community, putting on regular charity events because VolksMagic would 'not be possible' without the support of those who champion the business

Speaking Exclusively to the Express & Star, he said: "We started TV work in 2007 with Beetle Crisis and it has evolved from there, working with Salvage Hunters Classic Cars, Car SOS, Wheeler Dealers, Wheeler Dealers Dream Car / Camper Van Crissis - also supplying parts for lots of other shows and general helping out in the background with VW tech.

"It's always a great time at work when we are filming with Wheeler Dealers, Mike Brewer is one of the kindest people I know.

"We are very lucky to work with Fuzz and Tim quite a lot, over time we have become friends but as all good shows there is a host of fantastic crew that work tirelessly to make it happen, We have done lots of filming and cars with SOS all the way from series one in 2013."

Lee said one of the best parts of the TV work is that people get to see his talented team do what they do best.

He said: "To showcase my team's skills is just the best, I've been all over the world and recognised as 'that guy from Car SOS or Wheeler Dealers'.

"Traveling across Route 66 a few years ago I stumbled across an old run down gas station that was breaking old cars and I just had to take  look.

"I walked in and the guys were sitting back on their seats with there boots up on the tables, then the one guy said 'Well fancy that, you walking in to our garage, the guy from wheeler dealers'.

"I think what makes us proud as a team is doing what seems impossible - to us as well - then the cars will roll in and we're thinking 'Oh my god', but then the magic starts."

Lee and the team have been putting on events for charity for years, with a key focus on making sure they give back to the community every year as a way of thanking the locals for their support by helping those in need.

Just last year the team donated thousands of gifts to kids on Christmas through their charity drive 'Santa Is A Gangster'.

Lee said: "I'm a big believer in supporting locals and never ever forgetting how you got where you are, people forget too fast, but none of what we do at VolksMagic would be possible without the support our families, friends, and work colleagues.

"All I can say is keep your eyes open on the TV car shows this year as your local VW guys have done it again, see you all on the square thing."
