Through Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, three Black Country councils have revealed the extent of driver misuse when it comes to the region's bus lanes.
The requests, put into Dudley, Walsall, Sandwell and Wolverhampton councils, have shown that between the years of 2019 to 2024, 362,365 penalties have been issued to drivers in the Black Country.
Over the five-year period, £8,581,655.55 have been taken in fines for using the lanes, with residents of the region showing a mixed response to the high amount of charges.

Cindy Mason, of Blakenall, said: "I'm a bit surprised by the numbers yeah. It's quite a lot when you think about it really.
