Amanda Evans, 58, from Rumer Mill, Cannock, a civil servant at Wolverhampton Council, couldn't believe it when she received a call from Channel 4's producers while she was on a holiday with friends in Poland in May 2023.

Amanda said that she jumped at the chance to appear on national television, quickly rushing to create a luxurious five-star menu that was complete with a five-star wine tasting.

Talking about the show, which airs on March 17, Amanda said: "I didn't actually apply at first, I applied for something else in 2022 and I must have been on their files.

"I got the call when I was in Poland with friends, I couldn't believe it. I was a bit tipsy as we had drunk some wine, so I'm not too sure what I said to impress them."

The civil servant spent a week concocting a fantastic menu of homemade carrot and ginger soup, chicken and fennel curry and a delicious lemon meringue.
