Police spotted Tom Parrish driving a Citroen Picasso on Queslett Road at 8.30pm on January 17 and followed him due to his number plate being covered with dirt.

However, when they blue lighted Parrish instead of pulling over he tried to escape by accelerating away.

During the next four minutes Parrish drove on the wrong side of the road, ran red lights and went almost double the speed limit on a number of residential roads in Streetly.

Unable to outrun the police car Parrish, 36, then tried a different tactic by attempting to ram his police pursuers off the road.

After stopping abruptly in the road he reversed rammed the police car. He missed once but connected twice.

The ramming caused £16,000 of damage and injured the officers inside. However, the car stalled and he was arrested near the Old Irish Harp pub.
