'Chaos' on rail services amid trains breakdown and signal fault in the Black Country

Passengers have been left "stranded" at stations after a morning of public transport "chaos".

A signal fault between Walsall and Birmingham New Street has caused alterations, delays and cancellations which will stretch into the afternoon.

There are delays continuing after a train broke down between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Railway tweeted: "Signal Fault between Birmingham New Street and Walsall Due to this services on this line face delays and alterations Ticket acceptance with: @CrossCountryUK between Birmingham & Nuneaton/Tamworth @nxwestmidlands between Birmingham and Walsall."

West Midlands Railway tweeted this morning: "Broken down train Between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton Services that run through these stations face delays and alterations Ticket acceptance with @WMmetro & @nxwestmidlands between Birmingham and Wolverhampton."

Passenger Stephen Burgess slammed the West Midlands Railway:  Pure chaos. Freezing cold passengers left abandoned st Tipton station. Utter embarrassment. Promised a bus replacement baby guard but whole strategy was to get passengers off train and problem solved!"
