As the half term holidays approach, here's 11 fun and varied events and activities in the Black Country and Staffordshire to keep youngsters occupied during their week off from school.

The half term holidays are a time for schoolchildren to take a break from their studies and enjoy a week off, but is also a time which can leave parents scrambling around for something for them to do.

To help provide families with ideas, attractions, parks and organisations across the Black Country and into Staffordshire have been organising events from discos to holiday camps and a range of other activities.

We've take a look at the different activities on offer and have put together a list of 11 events from across the region to help provide some half term fun.

1. The Marvellous Mini Beasts of Bodenham Arboretum

Bodenham Arboretum, Kidderminster, DY11 5TB -  Saturday, February 15 to Sunday, February 23 from 10am to 5pm. 

Take a walk around the Arboretum and farmyard on the outskirts of Kidderminster, with more than five miles of woodland walks and an opportunity to spot the different creatures around the woodland during February half term.

Bodenham Arboretum has been described as Worcestershire’s Hidden Garden and is an oasis of walks, plantations, pools and avenues, beautifully landscaped and including more than 3,000 species of trees and shrubs.

Tickets: Adults: £8 plus booking fee, children aged three to 16: £5 plus booking fee, family ticket for two adults and up to four children): £26 plus booking fee. 

2. The Black Country Living Museum

Discovery Way, Dudley DY1 4AL - Saturday, February 15 to Sunday, February 23 from 10am to 4pm.

The museum is offering a chance for youngsters to see how children were entertained in the past and is inviting people to enjoy a family day out and take a trip back in time to explore historical hobbies through the decades. 

Visitors will be able to discover boredom busters of the past from Victorian doll making, Edwardian birdwatching and 1950s games, as well as an entire historic town to explore.

They can meet a whole host of historic characters from Victorian times to the 1960s and step into period houses, shops and industrial workplaces in a fully immersive day out.

Tickets:  Adult aged 16 and older: £26.95, Over 65: £25.95, Unwaged: £23.95, Student: £23.95, Young person aged three to 15: £14.95, Essential Carer: Free. Family tickets also available.

3. Sycamore Adventure

Sycamore Green, Dudley DY1 3QE - Saturday, February 15 from 11am to 2pm, Tuesday, February 18 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, Wednesday, February 19 from 1pm to 2.30pm, Wednesday, February 20 from 2.30pm to 6pm and Thursday, February 21 from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

The Adventure centre is offering several days of family play fun, with children able to play indoors and outdoors.

The centre has waterplay, sandpit, sunken trampoline, slides, climbing frames, swings, den building poles, sensory room, small soft play and more, with parental supervision essential.
