West Midlands Police has released an image of Freda Margaret Green as part of an appeal for any information into her whereabouts on what would be her 75th birthday.

The case is one of the forces longest-running missing person cases, with Freda reported missing by her family on April 2, 1972 from from John Street in Brierley Hill.

The then-22-year-old was described as 5ft 4ins tall with blue eyes, wearing glasses and with distinctive operation scars on the insteps of both feet.

She was also known to frequent the New Inns Pub on Dudley Road in Brierley Hill, which is now known as the Dog and Lamp Post pub, and was employed to Steven and Williams as a glass polisher at the time.

West Midlands Police said that while there had been no trace of Freda since April 2, 1972, it said it hoped the renewed appeal might help remind people about her.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We are continuing to ask the public for help in some of our longest-running missing person cases.

"Today, we are appealing for anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of Freda Margaret Green, from John Street, Brierley Hill.

"At the time she went missing, Freda was around 5ft 4ins, had blue eyes, wore glasses, and had distinctive operation scars on the insteps of both feet.

"She was known to frequent the New Inns Pub in Dudley Road, Brierley Hill, which is now known as the Dog and Lamp Post pub.

"She was employed to Steven and Williams as a glass polisher at the time.

"Sadly, there's been no trace of Freda since 2 April 1972, but we are hoping our renewed appeal will help jog people's memories.
