Heartbroken Jodie Smith, 42, was in the process of moving into her new home in Halesowen Road, Cradley Heath, on February 8, when the box containing her husband's wedding ring, photographs and other items of sentimental value vanished from the doorstep.

Her husband Adrian, 55, who worked as a tool hire manager, tragically died from brain cancer on January 10, and she was in the process of moving from their former home in Willenhall when the items disappeared.

Jodie, a civil servant, has now launched a £1,000 appeal for the return of the missing items which she is desperate to get back.

The civil servant said: "It was all I had left of him. We were married for over 20 years and there wasn't a day that he took it off. It holds such sentimental value.

"I cared for my husband Adrian for a year while he battled with brain cancer and he sadly died when he was 55.

"The worst bit is that I blame myself. When I was moving, I had a box that I wanted to leave outside, but I left the wrong box out there and when I returned to it the morning after, it was gone."

Jodie described those who took the items as a man and a woman, with the woman wearing a white hoodie, and the man wearing grey jogging bottoms and a woolly hat.

She said: "I don't know if it was taken mistakingly or if it was stolen, but all I can say is that the items inside hold such a huge amount of sentimental value and I would really like to see them returned.

"I don't mind if it was taken mistakingly, just please please return the items. They were in a cufflink box, and the box also contained photos of him. Please return them."

As well as the ring and pictures, the box also contained a charm bracelet with charms including a fish, carriage, jester and red jewel also taken, as well as a gold crucifix and a Sekonda watch.

Jodie added: "The return of the items will result in a reward of £1,000, and I won't report it to the police.

"I really just want the items back."
