Shifnal Town Council has agreed to increase its precept by 8.83 per cent, equating to £12.98, for a Band D property.
The precept submission will equate to an annual figure of £159.90p for each household which will go towards paying towards the direct costs of the council.
Members of the town council met on February 6 to discuss and agree an annual budget and precept required to deliver services in the area.
The budget has now been submitted to Shropshire Council to request the precept.
Shifnal Town Council has decided its annual budget expenditure will be £673,615, its annual budgeted income will be £38,043, its transfer from 'council reserves' will be £58,172, and its precept submission will be £577,399.
'We are committed to delivering the most cost-effective services'
A spokesperson at Shifnal Town Council said: "The council have considered this increase in detail and are committed to continue to deliver the most cost-effective services to the community.
"The members are aware of the economic pressures on individuals and families at this time and are very mindful of making decisions that may impact them further.
"The Council have absorbed inflationary and service provision increases over the last ten years without an increase to the community purse prior to last years’ small increase of 1.2 per cent but unfortunately cannot continue to do this.
"Should any member of the electorate require sight of the agreed budget in detail, please refer to the Shifnal Town Council website at www.shifnaltowncouncil.gov.uk or contact the office for further support."
