M6 reopens following vehicle fire in Stafford

All lanes of the M6 have reopened following a vehicle fire that caused heavy delays in Stafford

Traffic was held on the M6 northbound between Junction 14 (Stafford) and Junction 15 (Stoke-on-Trent) following a vehicle fire. 

The incident was first reported by National Highways West Midlands at around 2.31pm, with the delays quickly forming in the area. 

Delays of around 45 minutes were reported at the peak of the incident, however, all lanes of the busy route have now reopened. 

At the time of the incident, National Highways West Midlands said on X, the group said: "Traffic is held on the M6 north J14 Stafford to J15 Stoke-on-Trent. This is due to a vehicle fire. 

"West Midlands Fire Service are on scene and we should be able to open at least a couple of lanes past scene soon. 

"Delays are approaching 45 minutes with 5 miles of congestion."

All lanes have since reopened with delays expected in the area while congestion eases.
