Boy, 17, charged following knife incident near East Park

A 17-year-old boy is to appear in court today charged with knife and drug offences following an incident near East Park

The youth is to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today for a first hearing after being charged with making threats with a bladed article in a public place and possession of cannabis.

The charge follows an incident where a man was reported to have been spotted with a machete in Stowheath Lane, near Wolverhampton's East Park, on Monday afternoon. 

Following his arrest, the 17-year-old was also charged with possessing a quantity of cannabis.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We’ve charged a 17-year-old with making threats with a bladed article in a public place following an incident in Wolverhampton.

"The boy has also been charged with possessing a quantity of cannabis. He was remanded to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (Wed) for a first hearing.

"It follows a report that a male had been seen with a machete in Stowheath Lane, Wolverhampton, on Monday afternoon."
