Walsall park disorder defendants deny incident was racially motivated
Defendants accused of violent disorder in a park near Walsall have denied it was racially motivated.

Stephen McCallum, aged 38; David Hammond, aged 39; and James Bond, aged 58; are standing trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court charged with violent disorder and affray over the incident which took place at Doe Bank Park in Pheasey in Great Barr on May 28, 2023.
In his closing speech Mr Ben Williams, defending Bond, told the jury that a 22 secs video played in court and showing the unfolding incident at the Doe Bank Lane park did not make "attractive viewing".
"I suggest that appearances can be deceptive," he said.
"He believed he heard a man saying the word 'fight'."
