West Midlands Police said no-one should have to deal with sexual abuse or sexual violence. It’s not okay to suffer in silence and it’s not okay to have to deal with it on your own.

The force reminded the public that they can report sexual abuse or violence to the police by calling 101 for non-emergencies or via Live Chat on the force website.

But always dial 999 if a sexual assault has just taken place or you feel that you or someone else is in immediate danger.

The force said it won't judge and will treat those who call out for help with sensitivity and respect, while always putting their health and wellbeing first.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Find out more about what to do if someone has raped or sexually assaulted you and what happens when you make a report.

"There are a wide range of services based here in the West Midlands which offer guidance and support to anyone who has experienced rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse.

"You can also visit the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner’s No Excuse For Abuse website where you can find details of a range of support services including charities, refuges and specialist support for LGBTQ+ and male victims."
