Bilston road set to be closed over weekend due to emergency waterworks

A Bilston road is set to be closed over the weekend and into the start of the next week due to emergency works on a non-visible leak losing moderate amounts of water.

The leak was reported on the Crescent in Bilston at around 11am on Friday and has seen the road closed to traffic between Broad Street and Greencroft Junctions.

The closure is set to remain in place until Tuesday, with diversions going along Broad Street, Smith Street, High Street, Wolverhampton Street and Wellington Road and vice versa.

A spokesman for Wolverhampton Council said: "Severn Trent Water emergency works mean temporary road closure on The Crescent between Broad Street and Greencroft junctions, expected to remain in place until Tuesday, February 4.

"The clockwise vehicular diversion route is Broad Street, Smith Street, High Street, Wolverhampton Street and Wellington Road, while the anti-clockwise vehicular diversion route is Wellington Road, Wolverhampton Street, High Street, Smith Street and Broad Street."
