The vehicle smashed into beauty salon @One Park Street and Tournebize Jewellery in Park Street on December 12, 2023, with both businesses forced to close for the day as a result.

Josephine Tournebize, who runs the jewellers alongside her partner, Rory Smith, said the car landed inside the separation wall between the two shops, which created a shift along the front of the building.

She recalled hearing a "massive thump" when the crash happened and feared the business was being raided.

Josephine said: "My partner and I were inside with our dogs, he was right by the front door on the inside putting some jewellery in the cabinets.

"At the time we thought we were being raided, it was about 9am. There was a massive thump, so for a second we sort of froze but as we looked out the driver was in his car and we went to see him to make sure he was okay.

"We didn't get hurt but it was really close, my partner was about one metre away from it.”
