Onjali Q. Rauf will be introducing her latest novel "The Letter with the Golden Stamp" at Wolverhampton Central Library on Saturday at 11am in a Meet The Author event.
The heartfelt and suspenseful story dives into the world of young carer Audrey, who juggles school, her own dreams, and the immense responsibility of caring for her sick mother and siblings all while guarding secrets only she knows.
Set in Swansea in Wales, Audrey’s story sheds light on the courage and resilience of young carers, and the invisible support systems that keep them going and through a journey inspired by her treasured stamp collection and her postman’s quiet friendship, Audrey faces the arrival of a mysterious neighbour who threatens to uncover her hidden world.
The event is a unique opportunity to engage with Onjali as she discusses the inspiration behind The Letter with the Golden Stamp and the profound influence of young carers on her work.
She said that personal experience of having to help her father when she was a teenager shaped how she wrote the book.
