A spokesman for Severn Trent Water said: "We’d like to apologise to those experiencing no supply, poor pressure or discoloured water in the WV7 area of Wolverhampton this afternoon. This is due to a burst water pipe.

"Our engineers are on the way who will assess the burst and start the repair as soon as possible.

"We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing."

A further statement by a spokesman for Severn Trent said: “We have had a small number of calls from customers in the Albrighton area reporting discolouration of their water.

"The discolouration of water is a result of harmless natural deposits that build up at the bottom of water pipes over time and are disturbed when there’s a change of flow in the water pipe.

"While it may look a bit unpleasant, it's nothing to worry about and should clear when taps are run for a couple of minutes.

"No customers are off supply, and we have teams checking to see if there are any issues with our network.”
