Councillor Louise Harrison has sat as deputy mayor for the current municipal year.
The current mayor for Walsall Council, councillor Anthony Harris, congratulated Harrison on the new role after she was unanimously voted in earlier this month. The mayor’s role is to chair council meetings and represent the council at civic events and community engagements.
Councillor Harrison represents the Bloxwich West ward in Walsall, and was first elected as a member of the council in 2004. She said: “I’m really looking forward to becoming Walsall’s new mayor in May.
“I’ve enjoyed my time as deputy mayor getting out and meeting all different parts of our community and seeing the good things that are happening across our borough. I hope to expand on this during the mayoral year and be a real voice to promote Walsall and the people that make Walsall great.”
Sitting alongside councillor Harrison will be the new deputy mayor of Walsall, councillor Chris Bott. Councillor Bott represents the Darlaston South ward and was first elected in 2007.
