Man arrested on suspicion of drug charges after being stopped in Cannock

A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drug offences after being stopped by police in Cannock.

Officers from Staffordshire Police stopped a silver Vauxhall Insignia on Rosehill on Thursday afternoon and found the driver, a 49-year-old man from the Cannock area, in possession of cocaine, cash and a mobile phone.

The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, but has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Staffordshire Police have asked for anyone with any information about drug activity and other serious crime to get in touch as soon as possible.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "We have arrested a man on suspicion of class A drug offences after we stopped a car in Cannock.

"Just before 3pm on Thursday (23 January), we stopped a silver Vauxhall Insignia on Rosehill.

"The driver was found with cocaine, cash and a mobile phone.

"A 49-year-old man, from the Cannock area, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A.

"He has been released on bail while our enquiries continue.
