Legendary snooker man Rex Williams to visit Halesowen

Legendary snooker player, commentator and administrator Rex Williams is cued up for a guest appearance in Halesowen next week.

The 91-year-old - who was born in Halesowen - will appear at The Laurels, Windmill Hill on Thursday February 6 in an evening hosted by Bob Warman.

Williams was the second player to make an official maximum break in snooker and won the World Professional Billiards Championship in 1968, retaining and regaining the title a number of times.

He is a former chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association and commentated on the game for the BBC between 1978 and 1984.

He also founded a cue-making company, with Stephen Hendry using one of them in each of his seven world championship wins.
